Food Photography - Quick Take

Had a fun afternoon experimenting around with some simple food photography for my wife’s, cousin's business (say that five times fast! 😉).

For this setup we actually were able to take advantage of a near daylight balanced overhead light right over the wood prep table.

Little bit of set dressing and we were able to make a pretty good scene for some of the sandwiches they wanted to showcase.

If you’re ever in the Hollywood area, stop by for a bite at Pizzaman. They’ve really made it a unique experience with some great food. 👍

Griffith Observatory - iPhoneX

A fun afternoon with my Dad and Brother at the Griffith Observatory this past weekend. Here’s a few snapshots from the day shot on the iPhone X.

#For-Hire - Tanqueray Ten (Production Breakdown)

Really pleased to see recent #forhire work finally starting to make the rounds on @tanquerayusa’s social media. I was the Director of Photography for @snoopdogg’s direct-to-camera intros + interviews with the Tanqueray Ten!  You can check some of the content here.

Camera: Canon C300, Canon CN-E 50mm, ISO 850

Huge shout out to my Gaffer Michael Galdamez with Cam Lighting and Grip, Inc for doing a stellar job on this project. 👍

Canon C300, Canon CN-E 50mm: The smallHD monitor was perfect for sending out a Rec709 feed to the clients monitor (i.e. HDMI TV on set), while still maintaining the C-Log capture in camera.

For these interview shots we used an Arri Skypanel S30 with a grid. Flagged it off on along the top to keep too much spill from hitting the wall behind the interviewees. The daylight from the door acted as the backlight. Practicals in the space helped with a slight tungsten glow as well.

For Snoops direct-to-camera, we used the Arri Skypanel S60 as the key light with a grid in as well. We also used a Quasar Science 4x4 Kino for some soft fill on the left side of the frame. For back we used 1 Quasar Science Crossfade just above the glass, as well 1 along the drinking glasses in the back of the bar to give some texture shining through.
